Tehran hospital fire engulfed multiple floors

A fire outbreak in a Tehran hospital prompted an evacuation, according to state media.

Medics and firefighters were called to work outside of the Gandhi Hospital after a fire erupted on multiple floors in northern Tehran.

Firefighters were deployed to the site; however, it was not immediately clear what caused the fire.

The blaze erupted at 7 pm, and efforts were quickly made by emergency crews to control the fire.

As no casualties were reported, it was a matter of containing the spread and ensuring that those on site were safe.

The IRNA quoted the hospital’s director at the time as saying: “There was a fire at the eastern side of the Gandhi hospital, and we are evacuating.”

At the time of writing no updates by officials have been made as to the cause of the hospital’s fire.
