UAE produces robotic fire-fighting machine

FFBOTS, the Jebel Ali Industrial Area-based Emirati firm, has launched the first locally-made firefighting robot of its kind in the Middle East, with world-class technical specifications and operational capabilities.

FFBOTS, or Firefighting Bots, is a company specifically designed to produce technology that combats fires of all kinds. Now, they have designed, produced and released Wabel, which means ‘Rain’. The machine can go where firefighters cannot, is able to maintain longer periods of time in exceptionally high temperatures than the average person and is able to access hard-to-reach areas.

Through the use of Wabel, not only can situations be brought under control much faster, but this can happen without the need to endanger the life of any individual.

“Since its inception, the company has sought to locally manufacture, design and assemble robotics technologies, with a focus on attracting local and international competencies and expertise, inspired by its vision and the passion of the founding team. The aspiration of the company’s investors towards AI-based innovations are in line with the vision and directions of the UAE government,” said Mohammed Islam, robotics expert and CEO of FFBOTS.

The robot is controlled wirelessly by a control station with a control range of up to 1,000 metres. Wabel has four hose-inlets and four cameras, enabling it to cover all angles whilst operating as the eyes of the firefighting team using it.
