27 Jun Serco and Dubai Airports to boost Emiratis in frontline fire service roles
Dubai Airport in cooperation with Serco has trained 23 trainees in its intensive eight-week firefighting training programme, and if looking for further recruits.
The immersive training took place at Serco’s award-winning International Fire Training Centre, now firmly established in the Middle East, using the Dubai Airports Fire Training Ground, located at DWC.
These ICAO certified airport initial firefighter courses use global best practice and focus on skilling the Emirati firefighting team at Dubai International (DXB) to be trained to the highest industry and professional standards and ready to respond to any possible emergency. With twenty three trainees already graduating, Dubai Airports are looking for the next next cohort of Emiratis to join its world class firefighting team.
Leigh Cockman, Fire Rescue Services Training Manager, said: “In line with the UAE’s national agenda and with nationalisation as a core element of Serco’s strategy, we are proud to be making a difference and developing the firefighters of the future to protect citizens, residents and visitors to the UAE.”
Dubai Airports maintains one of the largest airport fire services departments in the world across its two airports. The department is fully equipped with a fleet of Aviation Rosenbauer vehicles armed with the latest aircraft firefighting technologies and safety controls, domestic vehicles, MICC (Mobile incident Command vehicle) to monitor incidents, water tankers, as well as rescue stairs vehicles at each location.
