23 Sep Pierce Manufacturing completes ownership interest
Pierce Manufacturing has completed the purchase of an ownership interest in Boise Mobile Equipment (BME). The move will ensure greater collaboration in the wildland fire market between Pierce – an Oshkosh Corporation company – and BME – a fire apparatus manufacturer with over 30 years’ experience.
Pierce will be supporting BME as it transitions from a factory-direct model to an independent dealer distribution company. The two companies will work together to develop and market high-quality wildland products.
Jim Johnson, Oshkosh Corporation Executive Vice President and President, Fire & Emergency, commented: “We understand that fire and rescue departments face special challenges related to wildland environments. With this investment, Pierce will work with BME to provide the best possible wildland offerings to meet these unique challenges. And of equal importance is our ability to create an unmatched network of highly trained dealer organisations who are prepared to provide best-in-class service and support for the wildland customers.”
For customers of BME, the alliance will mean collaboration and R&D between the two companies to design state-of-the-art equipment; lower costs over time through increased efficiencies, smarter designs and better purchasing; and a better focus on what BME does best: building top quality wildland fire trucks.
