Huge blaze tackled at RAK oil factory

Fire broke out on Monday evening at RAK oil factory in UAE’s industrial area of Al Jazirah Al Hamra.

The police operation room received a report of a massive blaze at 7.30pm and fire crews were quickly dispatched to the area. Those in attendance included Brigadier General Mohammad Abdullah Al Zaabi, Director of the Civil Defence Department in Ras Al Khaimah, Colonel Hamad Salmeen, Head of Operations Department and Lt. Colonel Salem Al Shaer, Head of the Centres Department. Teams from Umm Al Quwain Civil Defence also attended the scene.

Firefighters were able to halt the fire from spreading further, and once extinguished they continued cooling operations until the risk had passed.

No injuries were reported, and material losses have yet to be quantified. The site has now been handed over to authorities at Ras Al Khaimah Police, who will work to determine the cause of the blaze.
