ECS launches H-60 fire rated composite repair system

Composite repair specialist, Engineered Composite Solutions (ECS), has launched a H-60 composite repair system that will offer fire protection on pipework and structural components.

The system called FutureWrap Fire will provide a fire rating up to A90 and H60, which will allow for repairs to be made to damaged pipework and structures and avoid the need for replacement.

Officially launched earlier this month, FutureWrap Fire comes after over two years of development and testing and is the company’s second innovative product launch this year. Earlier in 2022, the company launched FutureWrap Bio, which is an eco-friendly composite repair solution.

Professor Simon Frost, Director at ECS, commented: “This is a really great milestone for ECS.  The inspiration for FutureWrap Fire came from clients, who were struggling to find a composite repair system with a fire rating.  We could see there was plenty of demand and so decided to come up with a solution.

“After rigorous testing, the product is ready for the market. It is strong, durable, and its fire-rating will give clients the assurance they need to undertake composite repairs in in high-risk areas. As a team, we are dedicated to innovation, and customer service – finding solutions is hugely satisfying and after years of Research and Development, it’s great to bring new products to the market; products that will make a marked difference to our clients’ work.  We are looking forward to the roll-out.”

FutureWrap Fire is manufactured using a special epoxy matrix of fire resin and fire coating, which is a two-part ambient cure epoxy system specifically designed to provide the necessary thermal protection when exposed to a hydrocarbon fire.  It is thought to be the first of its kind in the industry.
