Building Fire in Ajman lights up night sky

A fire has torn through a highrise building in Ajman destroying 64 apartments and ten vehicles. No injuries have been reported so far.

The raging blaze lit up the night on an early Tuesday morning, spitting embers across the air. The exact same building caught ablaze back in 2016, to similar damages.

Individuals swiftly evacuated the scene through the stairwell of the building, as the fire was in its early stages, teams of fire engines showed up to spray the highrise apartments with water from the outside, whilst firefighters tackled the blaze from within.

Brigadier Abdullah Saif Al Matrooshi, Director-General of Police Operations at Ajman Police, said that a mobile police station was brought to the site of the accident, which provided certificates and other measures for residents to be able to report the loss of items. The mobile station also helped secure the site, ensuring individuals affected by the fire had no long-lasted detriment to their health.

Ajman Police provided seven buses, alongside the emirates transport authority, which moved individuals from the scene to hotels to temporarily house them.

Item recovery has begun and compensation will be rolled out to all of those affected.
