14 May 12 injured in a high-rise building fire
As the Abbco Tower building in the UAE engulfed in flames, residents were lucky to escape. The alarm was said to be raised at 17.00GMT on the 5th of May 2020. It took less than 3 hours to get the fire under control. Once all residents were out, 3 were taken to hospital. The cause of the fire is said to be unknown, however safety experts have blamed cladding. The UAE has seen an increase in high-rise buildings fires in recent years, these are also blamed by the use of cladding.
