Warehouse blaze in UAE destroys contents

A massive fire tore through a warehouse in the UAE on Sunday, destroying the entire contents of the building.

The blaze erupted in Sharjah’s Al Nahda Industrial Area 7 mid-morning, in a warehouse that contained metal tools.

According to the Sharjah Civil Defense Authority, the fire was first reported to its operations room at 10.42am.

After receiving the initial report that the warehouse was ablaze, the nearest fire stations were mobilised. Responding immediately to the fire, firefighters were able to bring the fire under control within half an hour.

Police had to clear the road in order for emergency crews to access the fire-engulfed building. Witnesses reported smoke billowing from the warehouse.

No injuries or casualties were reported during the incident, but the contents of the warehouse – reported to be metal tools – were destroyed as a result of the fire.

Firefighters remained on the scene to carry out cooling operations before handing over the site to the local police. The police will now be tasked with determining the cause of the fire.
