Vehicle explosion leaves 217 injured in Iran

On Friday 4th September, the explosion of a chlorine gas canister being transported by a truck in western Iran injured 217 people, but caused no deaths.

State news agency IRNA reports that the incident is the latest in a series of fires and explosions to damage military and civilian sites across Iran since June.

The blast occurred late on Friday in Chardavol county in Ilam province.Mohammad Karimian, head of the Ilam’s medical university, told IRNA driver “carelessness” was suspected.
