20 Dec Tower block fire
The night sky over Dubai was lit on 13th December up by another big tower block fire which engulfed the last 12 floors of a residential building.
The scene of the blaze was the Oceana Block on the man-made island of Palm Jumeirah. Civil Defence firefighters were able to evacuate all the residents without any injuries reported and the flames were quickly extinguished.
It was later reported that police questioned a British man and his girlfriend over allegations that they had started a barbecue in a penthouse apartment.
