08 Jan Thousands of hens killed in fire
A fire that raged quickly through a barn at a poultry farm in the American state of Michigan killed around 300,000 hens before firefighters could control it.
About 50 people who worked in the cage-free barn were evacuated safely and the fire was prevented from spreading to another barn nearby which contained a further 250,000 hens.
