Storm chasers to the rescue

News reporters covering disasters and tragedies around the world are very rarely popular for their interest … which is often described as ghoulish.

However as a  wildfire blaze last week swept through 55,000 acres of land in the American Midwest state Oklahoma one two-man TV crew were hailed as heroes.

Storm chasers Amy and Val Castor dramatically rescued a farmer when flames from the grassfire began to engulf the tractor he was driving.

The pair, working for the KWTV News 9 channel spotted the man trying to run away from the flames which were advancing faster than he could move.

So they reversed their car into the inferno on the verge of the road on which they had been travelling and having got him into their vehicle drove him swiftly away to safety.
