20 Dec Smoky Mountain engulfed in smoke
Three people died and 14,000 others were forced to feel their homes as wildfires swept through one of America’s most famous rural holiday resorts.
The flames which flashed through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park were driven by wind gusts of up to 90 miles an hour and reduced many buildings to charred shells as well as injuring a dozen victim who received fire related injuries.
However, there was one relieved resident in the area. The 70-year-old former famous country and western singer Dolly Parton was relieved that her Dollywood theme park escape damage after it was evacuated as a precaution.
