05 Sep Schools need sprinklers
The London Fire Brigade is urging the British Government to make the installation of water sprinkler systems mandatory in new schools and when older establishments are being refurbished.
The campaign was announced after the release of figures from 2017 showed there were 108 incidents of fires in schools and college fires in the capital representing an increase of 34 per cent in just one year
The brigade also revealed that during the year 184 London schools had ignored their advice to have sprinklers fitted as part of their refurbishment or building plans.
