24 May School fire
Twelve children, all only aged between three and four years old, suffered injuries in a flash fire from a science experiment at a church school in the Houston area of America.
Six needed hospital treatment for burns, five others were treated privately while one other was injured when trampled on by his schoolchums.
A fire chief later said the children had been taken outside the church to watch a teacher mix boric acid with methanol to show how flames can change colours when the experiment caused the unfortunate accident.
