31 Aug Saudi Fan Industries receives UL certification
Saudi Fan Industries is the first manufacturer in the Middle East and Africa to achieve certification in the category for Power Ventilators for Smoke Control Systems, by UL, the global safety science leader.
UL tested the company’s HRE (centrifugal single width single inlet smoke fan) and DV/DVW (centrifugal roof mounted up blast smoke extract fan) in respect of their operation when exposed to raised temperatures. UL found that the products met the requirements of UL 705 and time/temperature ratings so they can now carry the UL Mark. The UL Mark provides assurance to end users that the product they’re purchasing has met stringent and globally-recognised safety and performance standards.
The product tests included UL 793, the internationally recognised Standard for Automatically Operated Roof Vents for Smoke and Heat, as well as UL 705 Standard for Safety for Power Ventilators.
The testing and certification by UL found that the products were compliant with the applicable requirements of American National Standards Institute (ANSI), Source Classification Codes (SCC), United Arab Emirates Fire and Life Safety Code of Practice and the Saudi Building Codes.
The products offer life-saving benefits, by increasing evacuation time and reducing the risk of smoke inhalation for building occupants. By complying to UL 705 Standards they also offer protection to a building, the occupants and the contents by defending them from poisonous fumes and damage caused by heat.
They can also help to improve visibility for firefighters tasked with tackling blazes by helping to remove smoke from the area and reduce the risk of fire spreading and secondary fires.
Majed A Alkhalaf, Group Executive Director of Saudi Fan Industries’ parent company, Refrigeration House Group, commented: “Achieving UL Certification for our products has come at a critical time for our business. Saudi Arabia requires the highest standards of quality for products entering the market, and the UL Mark gives our customers confidence that our power ventilators have passed rigorous testing requirements.”
