14 Nov Road accidents following fire

Multiple car crashes on the Sheikh Zayed Road around the Al Manara Rd interchange towards Sharjah and also at the Abu Dhabi Junction appear to have been caused by smoke from a fire in a local restaurant.

A Dubai Civil Defence spokesman said: “City firefighters were sent to the restaurant shortly after receiving reports of smoke coming from a restaurant on Sheikh Zayed Road. It was a small fire that started at the restaurant’s chimney.”

The fire and consequent crashes caused delays on Sheikh Zayed Road near Downtown Dubai and motorists were urged to concentrate while driving and to follow traffic rules to avoid accidents.
