18 Jul Risk mitigation through smart integration
A live demonstration formed the centre point of the first Cortech Open Innovation Event (COIE) to be hosted in the Middle East – in Muscat. Involving a combination of software and the latest manufacturer technology, the demonstration addressed many of the challenges faced by modern day Control Room environments, including health and safety incidents, intrusions, unauthorised access, fire detection, nuisance alarms and energy consumption.
Further consideration was given to the risks and challenges faced when managing multiple technologies across multiple sites with a focus on prioritisation, escalation, accountability, verification, efficiency and return on investment.
The event also highlighted key considerations for high security environments and critical national infrastructure, featuring the latest advanced video analytics for identifying individuals, vehicles and unusual behaviour.
The COIE is a showcase for some of the latest advances in high security, fire and building control technology and a platform for demonstrating how interoperability between these systems can reduce cost and risk, improve operational efficiencies and provide greater situation awareness.
Cortech Developments Middle East Director, Phil Witts. said of the event: “ In collaboration with our attending manufacturers we were able to demonstrate how smart integration can mitigate risk when managing multiple technologies across multiple sites.”
Distinguished guest speaker, Bill Nelson, Managing Partner of Rose Associates and former Lt Col in British Military Intelligence addressed delegates with an engaging insight into the smarter integration of security and building systems. Commenting on the event, Nelson said: “The demonstration provided a comprehensive insight into the benefits of smart integration. Delegates were able to experience first-hand the ease of which technology can be monitored and controlled
