24 May Quick thinking
Quick thinking by an English schoolboy saved the lives of 60 of his fellow pupils as they were travelling in a coach along a road near East Grinstead in the county of Sussex.
The student thought he could smell smoke inside the vehicle and he reported his fears to the driver, who immediately stopped the coach and organised the evacuation of its passengers who were aged between 11 and 16.
Within seconds of them reaching safety on the road the coach burst into flames. Its engine and interior were gutted by a ferocious fire but not a single student suffered any injury.
