Migrant camp fire

A temporary camp housing around 1500 migrants near Dunkirk in Northern France was completely destroyed by a fire which swept through more than 300 wooden huts.

Ten people were injured by the blaze and taken to hospital but emergency accommodation had to be arranged for all the other occupants.

“There is nothing left but a heap of ashes,” said Michel Lalande, prefect of France’s Nord region.”It will be impossible to put the huts back where they were before.”
