Inspections to be intensified

The civil defence authorities in Sharjah and Ajman have announced they will intensify their fire prevention inspection and awareness campaigns which target commercial and industrial establishments.
The move follows the introduction in 2017 of a new regulation which obliges the owners of commercial and industrial buildings to pay for firefighting operations if their properties are damaged by blazes because of their failure to meet fire safety and prevention rules.
Sharjah’s civil defence has reported there has been a drop in fire related accidents since that measure was introduced but now wants to see buildings fitted with the most modern fire prevention systems which are designed to prevent victims suffering from suffocation or loss a life during a fire accident.
