Official statistics produced by Investec at the end of Intersec are forecasting that the annual fire and safety market turnover in the Middle East will grow from $2.5 billion in 2016 to  $4.4 billion in 2021.

Around half of the money will be spend on fire management systems, 30 per cent of it on fire detection equipment and 17 per cent on fire response systems.

And Intersec itself appears to be growing at a similar pace. This year there were 1304 exhibitors from 58 different countries compared to just 990 in 2013.

China provided most of the exhibitors with 214 exhibtion stands, the UAE were second in the table with 210 and the UK third with 150.

And the number of people visiting the conference has increased dramatically as well. Five years ago 21,549 visitors passed through the door and that figure grew this year to 33,501.
