Global Fire Equipment launches advanced ‘plug and play’ fire alarm software

European-based manufacturer Global Fire Equipment (GFE) has launched an advanced ‘plug and play’ fire alarm management and monitoring software.

The new product, called OWL, is designed to work with its CHAMELEON Network range of intelligent control panels. The new system will give users real-time information and alerts as well as complete visibility of their entire fire detection alarm system (FDAS). OWL is designed to work for small premises with single panel systems to multi-panel and multi-site applications with up to 64 systems.

The OWL software is fully compatible with GFE’s CHAMELEON Network range of intelligent control panels; G-ONE, GEKKO and OCTO+. The OWL system works via a PC-based platform, allowing access simultaneously via different PCs anywhere in the world provided they are on the same network. The software can also be backed up in case of a main PC outage and a customer’s configuration file can also be restored.

OWL also features a sleek and easy to use graphical user interface to display all of the system’s devices and alarm events, along with information about the state of the panel. The interface is arranged in a simple and logical way using a floor plan, allowing for easy identification in real time to any fire alarms and faults.

The OWL software records every individual alarm, fault, user access and interaction on the FDAS, providing complete system visibility. The affected area of the building is highlighted, and the icons indicate the exact location of an alarm event or fault. Every system interaction is logged, and the log can be exported. This allows the user to provide an insurance company with a log of alarms or warnings in the event of a fire or to provide a fire brigade with fire detection logs for weekly fire testing.

Fernando Oliveira, Director at GFE, said: “We’re very excited to launch our new OWL software which has been a year in development. OWL fills a gap in the global market for a user-friendly alarm management and monitoring software programme which is easy to assemble, connect and operate.

“This launch is the first of three planned phases in the product development for OWL and, with a number of installations of this software now underway across our global customer base, the next phase is to develop an OWL App and a connective tool in the near future. Eventually, our plan is for OWL to evolve to be a cloud-based system whereby our customers will be able to control centralised systems and keep track of their panels wherever they are located in the world.”
