Firefighting vehicle specialist Magirus inaugurates eight new volunteer vehicles in Italy

Firefighting manufacturer Magirus has continued its legacy of creating world leading vehicles with its latest inauguration of eight trucks for the Italian Province Verbano-Cusio-Ossala (VCO).

The new Magirus CITY 2020 tank pumpers were officially handed over to the local volunteer fire brigades in the presence of local authorities, the President of the Italian Firefighter Association, the Provincial Commander of the volunteer fire  brigades VCO, the Presidents of the Cariplo Foundation and the VCO Community Foundation.

Andrea Mantoan, President of the local firefighter  association “Vigili del Fuoco Volontari Sezione del VCO” said: “We chose the CITY 2020 for its versatility and compactness. Thanks to its short wheelbase, this fire engine can be manoeuvred with great ease. Magirus  offered us the ideal combination of state-of-the-art technology and cutting-edge performance.”

The goal of the volunteer fire brigades in VCO to buy eight fire-fighting vehicles was considered highly ambitious, but thanks to the fundraising help of many it was achieved. The vehicle fleet was in dire need of being updated as the original fleet was more than thirty years old.

The CITY 2020 is one of the most compact fire-fighting models available from Magirus, and is used by firefighters around the world including Europe and the Middle East. One of the leading models used in a variety of operations, the CITY 2020 features the “Made in Brescia” double cab, the Iveco Eurocargo chassis, the high-performance fire  pump (2,000 l/min at 10 bar and 350 l/min at 40 bar), a water tank with 2,200 litres and a foam tank with 120 litres. Renowned for its compact measurements and large loading capacities, the vehicle also has a short wheelbase of only 3,105 mm and a vehicle height  of 3,100 mm to improve its turning radius and lower its centre of gravity. These technical features make the vehicle easy to manoeuvre and usable even in very difficult firefighting operations.

With a comprehensive range of modern and most reliable firefighting vehicles, turntable ladders, rescue and logistics vehicles, special solutions, pumps and portable pumps, manufacturer Magirus has become one of the largest and most technologically leading providers of firefighting and disaster control technology worldwide. The company has been in operation since 1864, and is known for its passion and precision, high-tech and craftsmanship.
