Fire-resistant glass collaboration

Fire-resistant glass collaboration

Emirates Glass LLC and SCHOTT have signed a deal that will see the former provide Middle East-based architects with high-performance glazing solutions that combine fire resistance with design freedom.

Emirates Glass LLC is one of the leading producers of architectural flat glass in the region and is wholly owned by Dubia Investments PJSC. SCHOTT is an international technology group. Emirates Glass will process and distribute the new fire-resistant specialty glass, which will be supplied by SCHOTT.

The collaboration will see multifunctional, laminated and insulation glass types that are EN and UL certified and can deliver barrier times of up to two hours.

Rizwanulla Khan, Executive President, Emirates Glass LLC, said: “Modern architects and planners strive to make every building unique by integrating latest designs and products. This new innovative fire-resistant glass from Emirates Glass and SCHOTT paves the way for contemporary designs, maximising natural light and creating more open and connected interiors.

“This fire-resistant glazing is a step forward in enhancing the creativity, fulfilling requirements of fire protection authorities. Opening the possibility of revolutionary viewing options, these glass series offer a wide range of individual solutions, ensuring maximum flexibility to meet complex demands.”

Stefan Hergott, Vice President at SCHOTT, said: “The Middle East with its high architectural ambitions is a very attractive market. Partnering with Emirates Glass allows us to enhance our presence and address the requirements of regional customers at the same time. We are looking forward to the cooperation.”

The fire-resistant glazing offers the same high strength properties of conventional standard safety glass but has also been rigorously tested to ensure it can withstand extreme temperatures and offers effective protection for a specified time period.
