Fire related deaths fall

There has been a decrease in fire-related deaths in buildings and facilities across the UAE, according to the latest data released by the Ministry of Interior (MoL).

A drop of 62% of fire-related deaths has been recorded between 1st January and 30th June 2021, with a decrease of 46% in the number of fires reporting in buildings and other facilities in comparison with the same period over the past three years.

The smart fire alarm system Hassantuk is being cited as the reason behind the decline in fire-related incidents and deaths. The system which has wireless detection for heat, fire, smoke, gas, and carbon monoxide, as well as internet and external alarms and other necessary technical equipment, was launched by the UAE Civil Defence in 2019 and, under the direction of the MoL, has been installed in over 26,000 homes over the past three years.
