Fatal fire in shopping complex

At least 64 people died in a fire that tore through a shopping and entertainment complex in the Siberian coal-mining city of Kemerovo.

As many as 41 children were among the victims of the blaze which swept through the 1500 square metre building and took fire 17 hours to get under control.

The complex which opened in 2013 contained shops, restaurants, a bowling alley and a sauna but most of the death occurred in its two cinemas after their rooves collapsed hampering the efforts of the 660 emergency workers who were sent to the scene.
