21 Mar Famous gorilla catches fire
A crowd that had gathered in Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City to watch the premiere of the new King Kong movie fled in panic after a large model of the famous gorilla caught fire.
The 16 foot tall ape was set ablaze by flames which were spitting out of a nearby simulated volcano which formed a part of the evening’s entertainment.
Initially most of the crowd thought the fire was just part of the pre-film entertainment on a stage erected outside a cinema. But when they realised the fire was serious they scrambled to escape.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze and within an hour the crowd, which included Vietnamese and US consular officials were ushered into the cinema to watch the film.
