31 May Dramatic video

Dubai police used its official Twitter account to release two dramatic videos of a fire on board a dhow as it was heading towards the port of Deira. The blaze took hold of the vessel which was transporting an unknown cargo as it was sailing close to the Hyatt Regency in Deira.

The videos, which were taken by one of Dubai’s Civil Defence’ air wing rescue units, would suggest the fire on board the dhow was very serious. However, the blaze was quickly extinguished in just 27 minutes by fire teams from Al Ras, Hamriya and Port Saeed and the dhow did not sink. There were no fatalities and no injuries were reported.
