A fire that broke out in an upmarket rooftop restaurant in Mumbai’s financial district left 15 people dead and more than a dozen more injured.
Fire official Balkrishna Kadam said that an artificial bamboo ceiling above the diners had burned quickly and collapsed as people were trying to escape the blaze
Most of the deaths were caused by smoke suffocation but 50 customers were evacuated and taken to hospital but most of them were quickly released injury free. Police have since filed a culpable homicide case against the restaurants owners.
