10 Sep Children die at day care centre
An early morning fire killed five children aged between eight month and seven years as they slept in a day care centre in the town of Erie in the American state of Pennsylvania.
It was later reported that the blaze struck only eight months after the centre had passed strict fire safety tests and that the father of three of the victims was a volunteer firefighter who at the time was attending an emergency call started by a faulty fire alarm.
