16 Jan Battery fire forces plane to land
A battery operated mobile phone bank has been blamed for starting a fire in the cabin of a Virgin Atlantic flight that was forced to make an emergency landing at Boston airport in America.
Despite smoke filling the jet’s cabin all 217 passengers were safely evacuated with no injuries reported and when bomb disposal officers inspected the aircraft they found the burned out battery between the cushions of the seat where the blaze started.
