Al Thuraya Tower 1 refit upgrades lifts and fire escapes

Work to upgrade Media City’s Al Thuraya Tower is on-track to meet its target – with 49% completion of the initial phase of fit-out work. The work is on target to meet its scheduled finish date of the end of the year.

The work includes upgrades to the building’s lifts and its fire escapes within the scope of the project – with these upgrades being described as ‘extensive’. The comprehensive fit-out also covers the foyer and entrance, corridors, staircases, common bathrooms, lighting and tiling throughout.

As well as improved layout and décor special measures are also being used to promote a healthy environment in light of the Covid-19 pandemic. This includes the WELL Health Safety Rating which certifies buildings for wellbeing, healthy, hygiene and safety.

The refurb is a strategic measure to boost occupancy within the building and enhance its lease-ability. Savills is the project manager and cost consultant, and Bluehaus Group is overseeing the design. KPS is the main fitout contractor and KONE are supplying the lifts.

The areas that were selected for upgrades was based not only on improving the building’s aesthetic but also to ensure that building infrastructure was aligned to the same standards as newer buildings in the area.
