50,000 people left homeless

A fierce blaze which swept through the plastic roofs of a slum in the capital of Bangladesh, Dhaka, destroyed about 15,000 homes and left  50,000 people homeless.

It took firefighter more than six hours to extinguish the flames but no deaths were reported  because a lot of the residents, most of them low-wage earners, were away after the Eid Al-Ahda festival.
