A fire which broke out at an eight-story building in the central South Korean city of Jecheon, killed 29 people and injured 29 others.

A fire official said many of the victims had been using a public bath on the second and third floors of the building which made it harder for them to escape the blaze.

The fire happened just hours before the organisers of the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics had been scheduled to route an Olympic torch relay through Jecheon and the tragedy forced them to revise the route.
