28 racehorses lost

A raging early morning fire killed 28 valuable racehorses as they were trapped inside a training centre barn in upstate New York just hours after many of them had been in action at the Pocono Downs track in Pennsylvania.
Flames emerging from the barn were spotted by a stable worker when he went to feed the horses and within seconds of him shouting ‘Fire, Fire’ a small explosion demolished the whole building and none of the horses could be rescued.
